Energetic and dynamic are just a few terms used to describe the art of Raymond Clearwater. As a child, Clearwater was raised on and artistically shaped by the museums of New York City. As an adolescent in the 70's, Clearwater explored the subculture of the Village and SoHo, surrounding himself with the works of Warhol, Herring and Basquait. The artist medium gravitated toward the abstract work of Gustav Klimt. While a student of Widener University, he immersed himself in the landscape of the Brandywine Valley, reconfirming his passion for the organic world. His dramatic contemporary artistry using strong warm palettes, juxtaposing textures and pattern lends a luxurious quality to his paintings.

In the winter months, the artist resides in Phoenix, Arizona. For the warmer summer months, Clearwater resides in the wine country of Burgenland, Austria. The artist incorporates into his art, his vast travel experiences from traversing the Sonoran Desert to cycling the vibrant jewel toned countryside of Burgenland,amidst the wineries and sunflowers.
